Meet the founders:
Beth Richardson
Beth's passion for economic development and social change
stems from the time she spent in Cape Town, South Africa where
she co-managed a job skills training center for the Amy Biehl
Foundation Trust and saw firsthand the effects that employment
can have on people's sense of self-worth and dignity. Since
returning to the U.S., she has continued to learn about the social
sector and social entrepreneurship through her work at Ashoka:
Innovators for the Public, Center for Community Self-Help, and
Zebra Crossings.
Sarah Chasnovitz
As a documentary audio producer in the Cape Flats surrounding
Cape Town, South Africa, Sarah encountered families facing
difficult challenges, many of which stemmed from unemployment
rates that averaged over fifty percent. This experience motivated
Sarah to get directly involved by creating employment
opportunities for those men and women in South Africa and
others in similar positions. Since returning to the U.S., she has
remained connected with these communities through her work with
the Hart Fellows Program, the Center for Documentary Studies at
Duke University, and Zebra Crossings.
